Take a walk on the beach.
Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation, although often referred to as the 'yogic sleep' it's aim is not in fact to induce sleep, but to bring you to that magical 'dropping off point' just before sleep. Here the brain is in a unique state with both delta and alpha waves present. Delta is the state for healing and regeneration. Time spent here can reduce tiredness, boost concentration and elevate your mood. Alpha is the state for daydreaming, meditation or slow, gentle thoughts. Time here increases creativity, learning and mind-body integration.
During Yoga Nidra you are guided through stages of settling, rotation of consciousness, breath, visualisation and then returning to the present.
Make sure you are in a comfortable space, perhaps reclined and add blankets, pillows, eye masks or anything else that helps you to relax as you wish.
